If you were in Glasgow in 1908 and thinking about buying a new motorcycle, then you’d have been jolly excited to see that Templeton Brothers (William, Robert and George) of Sauchiehall Street were having a special show, as reported in the day’s Scottish Referee newspaper. Not quite the NEC or EICMA but it was, as they say, a different time. No doubt it was still worth looking around and sitting on the bikes. Some things haven’t changed. Rumours that they would be selling haggis at inflated prices at the show were soon scotched.
The Templetons were doing quite well for a while, selling their own Tee-Bee motor cycles with 2.5bhp engines and later becoming agents for those new-fangled Triumphs!
