That’s brilliant.

I know you have had to contend with hot temperatures but I’m jealous of those blue skies. Been looking at forecast for end of the week when I get there and it seems to be consistently wet. Not looking forward to my first day on Thursday, that’s a motorway day to get through Netherlands and Belgium, and the BBC forecast says stiff headwind and thunder showers :frowning:

That is a real shame @BrownMouse after all the good weather we have had. Fingers crossed the forecast has got it wrong for you. Mind touring does come with the risk of poor weather, of which we have no control.

I was expecting my fair share of bad weather on a 20 day trip. I would just would have liked a more gentle start on the first day, which is also going to be the most arduous.

Day 9, 60 miles

Only a short hop from Carcassonne to St. Jean de Minervois today. Staying with a Dutch friend who moved here 18 years ago.

Got some breakfast on the way.

Only a short ride, but nice roads and scenery.

I’ve got this for my home today:

So plenty of time with your friend. The lodge looks good. Have fun.

Day 10, 244 miles

Said goodbye to my friend and set off in the direction of Millau.

Just before I got there I was hit by a massive shower, fortunately just after I had donned my waterproofs…

When I got to de Gorges de Tarn it was dry again. Beautiful place.

Just before I got to digs it rained again…

Day 11, 148 miles

Had my breakfast, pretty nippy at first. That changed quickly enough though.

Todays route was cevennes, ardeche, and then into the vercors (drome area).

Fantstic riding.

Got to digs, then decided to have a beer in a familiar bar (stayed here last year with mrs.)

Then had dinner…

Bike is parked up and secure.

Off to @hubaxe tomorrow

Left Saillans early, so as to try beat the rain…
First up the Col de Rousset, known territory.

Then on I went, more nice roads.

To end up in Aix-les-Bains, at my good friend Hubert’s house.

Some good craic and food was had. Great day!

day 13, 74 miles

I spent a good part of the morning with Hubert at the Gendarmerie, as my wallet was knicked by a pickpocket yesterday. The officer was very helpful, a report was made for insurance purposes, and off we went shopping for food.

In the afternoon we went for a nice ride, the remaining 3 of us.

First up a col to visit a nice chateau.

Really nice riding. We the doubled back, did the pass in reverse, and went up mont Revard. More hairpins, rewarded with fantastic views.

Then back “home” it was. Some drinks, lovely food. Great day.

Argh, bugger about your wallet. Hope the card cancelling rigmarole doesn’t inconvenience you too much. I have my debit card elsewhere, just my credit card in the wallet in case that goes missing.

I’ve got all my cards separate from my wallet, so no problems there - just cash, which is annoying enough…

Ah yes, I’ve heard about French knickers…

Bad luck Wim, I guessing didn’t even feel the toe rag who had you wallet. The ride looks fantastic.

Do you not use Google Wallet or similar? Creates virtual card numbers and can only be used after passing phone security, which is fingerprint or PIN. I pretty much never use cash. Very handy :slightly_smiling_face:
