Classic Bike Prices... then and now!

Classic Motorcycles advert on the back of Classic Bike Guide is like a run through some of my early bikes, but the prices are way different!

Triumph 21: 350 - £3750, mine was £35 in boxes, rebuilt as a 500 and sold for £60
BSA Bantam 175 - from £1750, mine (actually my wife’s) cost £35, sold for about the same
Honda CB72:250 - £3500, mine was free in a few boxes, rebuilt for £133.54 (I still have my paperwork!), sold for £250
Royal Enfield Crusader 250 - £1999, mine cost £60, sold for about the same, after 3 sets of big end bearings!
Suzuki GT185 - £3999, mine cost £210, no idea what I sold that one for, but I do have a £35 receipt for an engine out of a breakers yard!
Isetta Bubble car - £9999, mine was £50, actually ran occasionally, and sold for about the same in the Spring!

1970’s memories and prices… but if I had them now, I’d be rich!

I think that all of us can relate to the huge differences in prices from when we were younger. The really scary thing for me is I have never really noticed the changes, until I’m reminded and then think back!
