A few weeks ago my best mate from school announced he had bought a bike and done his test.
Up until this point I didnt really go out on my bike, ive had the same bike a buell x1 since 2007 and only put about 5k miles on it in almost 20 years.
So the other week we met up for a ride and ended up at the superbike factory at Donnington, after a coffee and a catch up we took a tour of new and shiny things. Where upon I found myself staring at a triumph bobber and instantly fell in love.
Having been oblivious to bikes for the last few years and only taking my bike out for its mot every year I had never seen one before.
Ever since then I have been looking at them online, had a sneaky look in triumphworld at Chesterfield and almost bought a brand new one. A thornton hundred bought my eye on line and nearly had me, a tfc bobber at cmc too almost tempted me till I read about the riding position and the clip ons.
Anyway to make a short story long, I went to look at one today, private sale, left a deposit and picking it up tomorrow.
The gaffa says the buell has to go, I cant have two bikes.
Hopefully I’ll be out on the bobber more regularly than the bone shaker buell.

My Mrs bought her first big bike (a Ducati Streetfighter 848) when she was in her mid forties. When it was delivered to our house she literally jumped up and down with excitement. New Bike Day should always be that exciting!
You’re still a relatively young man. Still a lot of riding years left if you just take care of yourself. I turned 76 last May and I bought three bikes in the last 12 months and still ride every week and usually at least three times a week when the weather permits. Riding is like the Tin-Man, you gotta keep moving or the parts freeze up.
