Hi IanJ. Welcome to the forum! What a beautiful part of the world, and bikes to match. Great to have you along.
Thanks, here is ‘tother one.
The motor is on the bench at the moment. Just got the last parts to put it back together. It’s a small bearing motor which isn’t ideal but I’ve done what I can to upgrade and future proof it.
Hi Ian and welcome
Lovely bikes![]()
That first is a looker… is that original paint work? Looks in great order…
Welcome aboard, ianj. A very handsome pair of bikes.

Hi and welcome. Beautiful bikes.
Thanks, not original paint on tank, the rest is mostly.
I’ve spent about 3 years chasing down all the original type parts that had been lost. Paioli shocks, Magura switch gear and front master cylinder, I have a brand new pair of Lafranconi exhausts. Bumm replica mirrors and the really expensive cheap plastic indicators.![]()
Bienvenue, Welcome,
You live in a stunning part of Scotland. My daughter was in John 0 Groats a few days ago (driving the NC500).
Nice bike!
She will have passed our place, we live at the top of the hill at Auchengill.
This is the view from the window overlooking Sinclaire bay and Beatrice windfarm.
I’ve no plans to replace the Akront rims and stainless spokes for the rubbish Italian ones that Les fitted.![]()
Here is the Thunderbird engine in the frame.
First mock up. With it’s AMC gearbox. I have gerzillions of pictures of the work done. I might start a separate thread.
You do that!!!
Hi and welcome…. Lovely looking bikes.
Thanks for the welcome, I hope to contribute.
Cheers
Ian
