Welcome to our little corner of net! I’m going to go out in a limb here and say that’s not a standard T140…

Was in B.S. H in 1988 or 89 and again in 2019 issue 424 , neither time in my ownership but I do remember buying issue 1:joy:

Welcome. Very nice. Is that the Electrex unit for batteryless with lighting? how are you getting on with it?

Welcome in. Good to have a new member.

Ayup, welcome in!

It is the electrex unit with battery and led lights, on their website they say it’s not suitable for the T140 and I don’t know what was done to make it work as it was already fitted. I have found it to be a non starter unless the battery is charged to close 13 volts , not sure if it’s related but would love to know

Thanks for the welcome

Ta very much

Assuming yours has the ‘normal’ wiring on an Electrex system then the battery has no input into the ignition system. The regulator/rectifier charges the battery which then only powers the lights.

T140s are now listed on the kits on Electrex World’s site. I think the issue was a physical one rather than electrical. I’ve never had one of these systems but know that starting is sometimes an issue if kick starting can’t get the engine rpms up enough.

Mmm thanks for that Iron, most of the time it will start second kick just some days it hasn’t wanted too. I’ve not even looked in the electrical box yet but I’m no genius .Saw your teardown of the T140 ,brilliant. Wish you were my next door neighbour :joy:
