Is it possible to change bars on a t120 and also retain heated grips and bar end mirrors

Some of you are aware of what I am intending to do to my T120 already,

I read somewhere that it isn’t possible to retain the heated grips and bar end mirrors if you change the bars to a tracker type bar.. Not sure why , but something to do with the bars being threaded in the ends to accept the mirrors??? is this correct???

I don’t know about other handlebars, but this is what the Triumph 1 inch bars look like…

The end has a threaded insert fixed in with a slot too, presumably for stopping bar end mirrors rotating.

The hole next to that insert if for the wires from the heated grips to go in.

Those wires come out the larger hole on the left of this picture, which is where they connect inside the switchgear.

Note the smaller hole to the very left. That is where the peg in the switchgear housing fits to stop it turning.

If you were changing handlebars and wanted to keep Triumphs heated grips and bar end mirrors you’d need to cut some holes and find an insert for the bar end mirror. I’ve never had bar end mirrors but I’m sure I’ve seen expanding inserts to mount them in plain tube bars.

Wow what a way for triumph to make it hard for anyone to change their bars…

Thanks for this info and the pictures do help to explain what the score is with them..

Why did they have to make them so difficult to change???

The bar end mirrors are probably the best mirrors that I have had on a bike, they have managed to stop all vibration, and make a really good line of visibility.. without having to try and look past your shoulders in the mirrors..

I think that I am going to get a set of risers first to see if I can re arrange the angles on the bars slightly to stop my wrist aching.. Or maybe as another cheaper option, see if I can get a thicker set of bar grips that will work with the heated grips.. There is probably going to be another reason that will pop up to stop that also working though.. I will say so far I have noticed that Triumph are making it hard for folks to change/stylise/pimp… ,or whatever you want to call it, their bikes to suit them.. And I thought Harley had cornered the market in that field….. I was wrong…
