Off to Edinburgh

Not exactly a biking holiday but we are off to Edinburgh this morning…(checks watch) this afternoon. Only running a couple of hours late. So much for lunch over the border. Can’t go in to details so as to protect the guilty.

Just 3 days. Up via the A68. A701/A702 on the wrong side for us today but may come back that way. Travelling back Wednesday. Graduation day at Edinburgh Uni between (not mine).

Your ST looks amazing. Enjoy the ceremony and after party. :slightly_smiling_face:

Got separated on the A1 so waiting for ‘er on the Scrambler to catch me up. Stopped at Fir Tree for petrol and garage machine coffee, which I’m sure is some sort of punishment for still using petrol.

Nice 1050. I loved my 955, but my wrists didn’t!

Always used that road when coming up from Newcastle to go visit the inlaws. Great road.

We stopped at the border viewpoint and had a chat with some fellow bikers.

Out for a wee dram last night. As you do. A sunny morning in Leith today.

Is that Jedburgh?

It’s Teuchters Landing in Leith, I think…

No, Leith in Edinburgh.

Well done, that man!

Did you meet any teuchters?

That would have been odd as, as far as I know, Leith is not known for the amount of Highlanders visiting… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Agreed. It’s a funny name for a Leith pub.

I confess, I had to ask what Teuchter is. Handy having a girlfriend who lived here for 12 years. I’m just a Sassenach, myself. Didn’t notice any highlanders. I presume they’d be the ones with blue faces (because I am in touch with cultural references, as you can tell).

I only knew (also being a sassenach, obviously) because I was educated by my inlaws, the cailleach and bodach…

Time to point the bikes south. Back out on the A68, veer off before we get to the A1M and down the scenic way route via Richmond through Yorkshire.

Slight change of plan. Since leaving the A68 with the intention of lunch at Hexham, we’ve been all over this part of Yorkshire for reasons I can’t quite ascertain. I didn’t have the satnav so I have no idea. I just followed the bike in front, dutifully. :innocent:

Lunch in Thirsk. I’ll add it to map - good spot to refuel.
