Well, struggling with a table booking. It’s driven by AI, can’t speak to an actual person so l might jump on the bike and take a ride up. Sick of the synthetic voice telling me the same thing over and over…got a booking at Charles Cotton Hotel as a backup.

Nothing’s ever straightforward is it? I’ve been up to Hartington to check out the food options first hand. The Charles Cotton is reserved as we speak, but I’ve got my own reservations too…the hotel is run by a bunch of Indian lads who are nice enough but seem a bit clueless. The hotel has some pretty stinking reviews although the restaurant is well rated. However, there seems some doubt about what they actually serve. Indian food, clearly, but I have now read that despite the menu boards they don’t offer the options which I will attach pics of. I’ll try to clarify that unless we go elsewhere. And on that note…
Devonshire Arms booking system didn’t want to play nicely as you know, but now I have a bit of clarity. Basically it looks like I can book a table for 3, and a table for 4. Whether or not they would be even close together appears moot. Nearer the time could maybe change that. I will say it appeared more inviting than the other place. So we’d possibly become a party of 3 and a party of 4. Obviously once we’ve eaten up then it’s every man for himself at the bar!
Then the left field option-the youth hostel serves food too, Basic stuff, pizza, hunter’s chicken, burgers. I’ll see if I can download the menu for your consideration.
Anther option might be the Manifold Inn but that’s a ride or a four mile return walk. Menu looks decent mind. Evening Menu — The Manifold Inn
I’d be grateful for some opinions all. 
YHA options.
A single table would be ideal but if we’re split then it’s not the end of the world. Likewise with the food. If all else fails, eating the YHA’s finest before heading out for a libation or two can be a backstop.I reckon the distance between the bar and the hostel is the main consideration

I second that. For me, company and beer are the main things, I’m happy with any of the three options for eating in Hartington, don’t really fancy a trek to the Manifold Inn so that would be the bottom of my list.
If you want a more concrete opinion to help decide I would say go with Charles Cotton as that’s already booked so nothing more to do.

I’m happy with any of the three options and don’t really mind if we’re split over two tables, although it’s not ideal.
If it’s easiest, stick with the Charles Cotton.
Sorry guys been at sea for a couple of days, only on line for an hour today. I will catch up with you all at the weekend. We dock In Southampton tomorrow morning. Looking forward to next weekend.
