Hi, I’m new to the group and I’m having trouble with my Triumph speed twin 1200 2022. I am getting a low oil pressure warning light at idle when the bike is hot. I have changed the oil pressure sensor and oil filter and oil and it’s still coming on. Can anybody please help me to solve the problem or is anybody else experience the same thing? Need help
Hi, in case you really have a low pressure, I would go to a dealer and have this checked. Could be a lot of things, default on oil pump, etc..
I have a 2022 speed twin no problems with the oil pressure the idle might want adjusting failing that I would definitely take it to triumph to be checked out.
Idle speed is programmed into the ECU not something that can be adjusted really, and you wouldn’t want to. However, you have a good point, maybe the ECU is struggling to make it idle properly.
If the air or engine temperature sensors are faulty, then the ECU with be using the wrong air/fuel mix to run properly, or it could be deciding to idle at the wrong speed. My 2018 Speedmaster (the low compression version of the 1200 engine) starts off at around 1600RPM idle then drops to 1000 as the engine warms up. Don’t know if the high compression version of the engine in the Speed Twin would be the same.
In the past, I’ve also had it struggle to idle properly, with engine revs hunting, dropping below 1000 then picking up again every second or two, almost sounding like it would stall. I’ve fixed that by using TuneECU to get bike to ‘forget adaptations’. All modern engines have ECUs that monitor the engine conditions and it learns how to make it run as lean as possible to reduce emissions. Sometimes it seams to learn bad habits and needs to be told to forget.
However, @Raff didn’t mention bike was idling rough or slow, so these may not be the issues on his bike.
