Bikes all loaded up for departure tomorrow. First leg will take us to Lyon. Our final destination will be Draguignan, where we’ve rented a house for two weeks. Gorge du Verdon, here we come!

Yesterday was a 560 miles slog, destination Lyon. It took us 11 hours, and it wasn’t cold on arrival 
First a beer, then dinner.
Today we had a 260 mile, 5 hour drive. Left at 06.00 to beat the predicted traffic jams, and that paid off. Now at digs in Draguignan.

A good day today, but not many pictures as it was a tad warm at 37C. We headed out onto some small mountain roads, riding through some really nice villages. Then up a Col, some lovely quick riding. On the return leg it got even more spirited. It’s great to see how the mrs. gels with her Trident. Massive confidence boost. 3 hours riding in the sweltering heat was enough though, the afternoon was spent chilling at digs, with regular dips in our swimming pool.

Yet another hot day here in France. We had a good ride albeit not as good as yesterday as we had to traverse the city of Frejùs. Really busy and really hot. Out on the road again it was very enjoyable though. Just one photo due to the heat…

Great to see you safely at your holiday destination and your first couple of successful rides.
We didn’t get back home until Friday, so didn’t get chance to call you. I will catch up with you when you get home.
We’ll catch up buddy. I hope you had a good cruise. Temperatures are forecast to drop after friday, so we’re delaying the longer rides. First long one will be Gorges du Verdon.

We set off for St. Tropez today, as Jefta had never been. Very nice roads on the way.
Getting into town was the exact nightmare I remembered from an earlier visit. Even though we went native and filtered abusing the central reservation it was sheer hell. And as hot as, too…
We decided not to visit the tourist trap which is the harbour, but stop for a cold beverage and turn around. After braving the traffic in the sweltering heat Jefta looked like this…

As mrs. V was tired and wanted to read her book I took it upon myself to test the route I planned for today, and it did not disappoint. Out of town and into the hills, fantastic little roads and great views.
On it went, and once in the valley again a beautiful view of the rocky lumps this area is strewn with.

Today the same route as yesterday, but this time the two of us. Great fun again.
We got back just in time to avoid riding in a downpour of biblical proportions. Thunder and lightning, the works. Made the temperature drop a bit though…

Seafood available here is amazing. We just had some lovely fat succulent oysters, followed by a really tasty Dorade off the bbq…

Last post in this thread I’m afraid, as a family emergency forces us to get home early. The mrs. left yesterday by train already, so today’s route was solo. Gorges du Verdon. Brilliant.
