I came back from a ride yesterday and once parked and tucked up in the garage I could hear a sound coming from the bike. I put my ear to the tank and it was coming from inside, not the pump sound when you turn the key, an on then off sound over and over again. Tried the key on and off, tried the kill switch but the sound was still there. Any ideas? Will check this morning to see if it’s still happening, 23 plate bobber
What sort of sound? Was it just the bike cooling down?
Whirring?
Ticking?
Electrical buzz?
Etc…
like a whiring buzzing sound. just checked its not happening now and whatever it was hasn’t run the battery flat so panic over. just strange as i have never noticed it before.
Have a look at the rad fan next time… they can run on a little while on some engines but I don’t know about the bobber.
Also some of the fuel system has over run actions… stepper motors for fuel and air valves returning to starting positions etc. might be that
My 2018 Speedmaster has essentially the same engine and the fan stops immediately I turn the ignition off.
If the ignition is off, then there shouldn’t be anything electrical running. Well, I think some of the computers like the immobiliser, still get power. (The immobiliser light blinks for a day and the clock keeps time.)
If sound is coming from fuel tank then maybe the pressure in the fuel pump is ‘discharging’ causing a sound. It’s not something I’ve noticed. Only sound I get from fuel tank is when moving or rocking the bike and the electrical connectors inside slide around on the bottom. Usually only noticeable when fuel is low.
