As I was feeling left out and not touring Scotland, The Furka Pass, The Baltics or anywhere romantic like that , I fecked
off to The Slimy Sausage as usual …

Out early , Billy no mates but what a ride ..!
I’ve decided on a new verb to describe the RS 1050 , “ Oomphy”
Feck me what a bike this is …

Not my Triumph (hopefully). I took that picture riding back home in Switzerland not far from Montreux.
It’s been a long time I haven’t seen a Rat Bike.

Mine is the ugly one in the front

For this weeks ride I added a jumper and warmer gloves before heading down the Fosse Way. After nearly an hour I turned right and headed on unfamiliar roads across country, avoiding Stratford and Warwick to get to my destination in Redditch.

No, I’m not going old school, I’m sticking with my Modern Classic™, just wanted to look at a new handlebar to try and get my riding position fully upright. Unfortunately, the bar I had my eye on was geared for having the grips sloping down, not something that felt right as I sat on bike holding the handlebar in front of me.

Still, it was a nice few hours ride, including some new roads, and the sun even squeezed through the clouds occasionally.

Not today but a little while ago I had the suspension upgraded on the Nightstorm to get rid of the wallowing feeling you get on undulating roads and corners. I took it down to Will Burchell at SWB Racing in Ebbw Vale who has put on YSS rear shocks and emulators in the front forks.
There is still some tweaking to do but he was off to race in the Manx GP so that will have to wait until his return but already it is much more planted and once I replace the tyres and do the tweaking I am sure it will handle like it was probably designed to if they hadn’t used budget suspension.
A couple of photos taken after a long ride so ignore the fact it needs a clean :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Up towards Broughton then back through Woodland and Ulverston to eventually get back home.

Didn’t get too far today, just went for a short ride to Shobdon with Helmut on his Tuono as we had a very exciting tip run to do this afternoon, however I only made it one way as I acquired a vicious puncture which the air just hissed out of when it was reinflated. Our very good friends who own a riding school came out with their van to retrieve me and even took the rear wheel off for me at their unit, ready for me to get a new tyre fitted. Luckily I was about to order a new one anyway as this tyre had almost 10000 miles on it so was about done, so it didn’t sting toooooo much!!

It has also given me the opportunity to clean the wheel properly, so silver linings etc .

My Tiger was in for its annual service today. This is the first part of my presentation for my four day trip to the Scottish Boarders this coming weekend. No problems encountered and the bike is running very smoothly.

A post was split to a new topic: Scottish Borders trip

I collected my Striple from my friends’ business unit today; not only did they rescue me when I had my puncture, but also went and collected my wheel with new tyre fitted for me from the bike shop I always use without my knowledge and then put the wheel back onto my bike for me. As if that wasn’t enough, they collected me when I had finished work and gave me a lift so that I could just ride my bike back as Helmut is away at the moment.

I love that new tyre feeling!

Nice little 90 mile jaunt before work today, calling in at the Baffle Haus. It was absolutely full, so you had to queue to be parked, I wondered if I had got the day wrong and it was a weekend .
