We’ve not yet been to Santorini. It’s on the list…! We’ve been coming to Crete for about 15 years and it’s our favourite Mediterranean getaway. There is still a little bit of snow on the mountains yet it’s 80 degrees on the beaches. The locals are friendly and the western end is very uncommercial. If you want a golden beach, Fallasarna Crete is your place…!

I’ve not been to Crete yet (or any other Greek islands, apart from Samos which was great). But I helped a friend (Greek by birth) out who’s developing a holiday let there, and in return we get to stay there once it’s finished.

We are thinking of doing a road trip here one year, not on the bike as Mrs O wouldn’t be up for that but in the car. Come down for a long break early Spring as the weather here is somewhat better than squelchy UK in April and May or alternatively get here in late Sept and stay til mid October before wending our way home….

@Oldskool done Crete a few years ago and it was good, done Thasos done kefalonia, corfu, and possibly another. Might do mainland Greece later

Today we drove over the Cretan mountains from the south of the island to the middle of nowhere…!
The roads are just amazing and uncongested. Some dodgy old trucks around and I wouldn’t trust many of the locals driving abilities but wow. This is just an amazing island.
