Thanks mate, I’m certainly enjoying it so far. Only thing i’ve discovered so far is the seat has been adjusted to a low ride height (thought I was sitting in it a bit too much) and didn’t come with the risers to put back to standard but all parts ordered for less than 50 quid new, who knows how much Triumph would have charged for the same bits
I think the answer to that is nothing as the Triumph seat doesn’t require any additional parts to raise or lower the seat, it’s all built in.
Triumph offer a low seat for some machines as only a few models have the adjustable seat height, and the low seat is 4 times the price of the Ducati parts. Triumph charge eye watering prices for parts, as an example if you require an immobiliser for say a Speed Triple or Street Triple, the cost is almost a thousand pounds (£989.36 to be exact), and the immobiliser is known to play up on a few models, the joystick for rider modes etc, is also known to fail and that again comes in at an eye watering price, and all parts are manufactured outside of the UK so you don’t get the same quality control standards. Another issue with Triumph is they often discontinue parts even on 3 and 4 year old machines and this gets frustrating when trying to get parts.
I don’t think you can really compare a Speed or Street Triple with a Multistrada. You can compare a Tiger and a Multistrada and it doesn’t cost anything to adjust the seat height on the Tiger and unlike the Multistrada you can’t lose the parts on the Tiger. I doubt every Ducati model has an adjustable seat height either.
I have no idea how much Ducati would charge for the other items you listed, but they’re not renowned for their cheap parts prices.
To be fair mate, I wasn’t comparing identical parts. My point was that Triumph parts in general are, at best, overpriced and whilst Ducati has a reputation for being expensive my experience was in this particular instance far from this as an example Mrs Visor needed a new rubber strip that fits on the bottom of the seat cowl T2308697…£18 odd each to say nothing of the fact that the seat cowls themselves are no longer available (on a '21 plate bike)
Agree, my bike turned 10 years old this year and it’s quite scarey how many parts are unavailable, the flimsy plastic tacho cover cracked so I ordered one from foulups, they had been on permanent backorder the helpful but dim lad on the phone advised even though it fits a range of bikes including the early speedies and I believe the first series T120’s. Anyhow £45! For a flimsy piece of plastic- that is probably why it cracked in the first place, two months later it arrived in a plastic bag with no part number on.
