Every now and then, I like to sit back and just enjoy a really great tune performed really well… to me at least, this is one of the go to recordings for those occasions…

Top performers/talented musicians doing an impressive job. Enjoyed that. Prince had a fluidic, Hendrixy style that I’ve always found captivating to watch and listen to. It’s like he was born to play guitar.

I’ve never seen Dhani Harrison before. He really looks like his old man!

And he made it look easy, too. Great talent.

Almost certainly taken from the tribute concert here.

His lad was on stage through it all.
Respect. :+1:

Edit: wrong again.
Different event.
But if you like Harrison’s music…

Glastonbury 2009, no protests, no slogans, no complex, girlie costume changes, just an hour of Status Quo in full flow!

Well, it woke me up…

Since I’m digging into bass playing seriously, I’ve been interested in “RUSH”. I missed something over the years not listening to them. But better late than never.

Neil Peart the drummer was an accomplished motorcycle rider. After he lost his daughter and wife, he did his famous 55 000 miles trip.

Yeah I’m discovering that band, and will need some time to explore their prolific music.

I’ve been a huge fan since I was 17. Geddy is an exemplary bassist and Neil was just amazing with percussion. Saw them about 29 years ago when they came to Sheffield.
Neil wrote a book about those travels after his daughter and partner died in consecutive years - Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road.
Not read it but it’s on my list.

The story of Geddy Lee family is also outstanding.

I loved the base line to Tom Sawyer, was one of the two songs I picked to play when a trio of us got together a couple of times at a rehearsal studio in the late 80s. I just couldn’t get the guitarist to understand the main riff at this point. He wanted to play the rhythm in the second bar of the repeating pair the same as the first, not as a mirror image where the quarter notes at the end of the first was next to one at the start of the second. (Now I’m worried I’m making a fool of myself!).

My other song pick was https://youtu.be/tIai58859M0

Happy retirement David Coverdale !! What an achievement.
Burn with Deep Purple is on my fav albums.

And in the 80’s, I started to play the guitar ans was attracted by those "hair’ band. One of Whitesnake video clip is still strong in my memory. Even if watching it now put in evidence some outdated society codes.. I don’t care I still like it.
