Correct. Quite a character and a very hands-on motorcyclist. He was one of the team of riders who set a world record on a 500cc Venom, averaging over 100 mph for 24 hours at the Montlhery circuit in 1961: an astonishing feat of high speed reliability. I believe that the record still stands for 500cc machines.
