Reset the service interval Tiger 850 sport

Simpel question : How do I reset the service interval on the 850 sport
I can’t find the OBD port… does this bike even has one ?
Or is it a ‘secret’ reset ?
I found → Home button → engine settings → service interval
But I can’t find how to reset this.

The OBD port will be there somewhere, but I think you’ll need either Tune ECU or Dealertool to reset the service light.

From a quick Google, I think your connector is under the pillion seat and requires a 6 - pin adaptor. Some threads say that you need a software update in Dealer Tool / Tune ECU to reset it.

For my Street Triple, I took it to my local bike mechanic and they reset the service light for me with their software.

Aha… I was looking for the same OBD2 connector as they use in cars…

I found it, it was wedged between the battery and ECU.

And I have an additional ‘problem’
I’ve added a read fender to protect the rear spring against water and dirt.
To fix it in place , I had to drill 4 small holes, and I did’n want to drill in something vital.
So I removed the battery and put the ECU out of harms way.

But now… after reconnecting , there is an orange spanner, no gear indication , no fuel level…the trip1 stats are erased ( I figured that’s normal )
I did start the bike, and it run for 10 seconds…than I switched it off, dit not drive it yet ( with an Akrapovic is quite loud @ 22:00 hours in the evening  )
I think the bike has to calibrate itself again, when driving… but just to be sure… does it ??

I found the OBD2 connector, I have a bluetooth dongel ELM 327 which works on my car, with app Torque light that’s connected with the cellphone.
It’s not connecting to the bike… Is that because of the disconnecting of the battery ? or do I need differend hardware and software ?

Please advice

I’d expect trip stats and fuel level to be lost on power removal. Not sure about gear indicator, the switch for that on the modern classic range of bikes I have Haynes manual for, shows 4 wires between ECU and sensor, which is enough to encode 8 gear positions. As a test, I’ve just gone to my Speedmaster and clicked it into 3rd gear before turning on ignition and it did show 3rd gear on instrument panel, so that seems to confirm the theory. (Your Tiger could be different I guess, or maybe gear lever has been knocked and is in some kind of in-between position.)

Not sure. If I had to guess I’d expect ECU ‘adaptations’ would be stored in some non-volatile storage and survive a power loss. Though it shouldn’t really matter for you either way. (Part of the service tasks for my bike is to reset the adaptions so it can re-learn with new air-filter and any throttle balancing).

I’d expect it to at least connect and provide basic info. Do you have the ignition switched on when you try to connect. (That is needed on my bike.)

I’ve had another thought. On my bike, after I ‘reset adaptations’ it disables cruise control and the ECU generates a fault code (P1575) with orange warning light on dash. To re-enable cruise control and clear error you have to operate controls in a certain way. Maybe your bike’s ECU has lost it’s settings and needs similar, assuming it has cruise control that is.

Update…
Started the bike and put it in gear… most of the indications came back,
fuel, temperature, gear… had to switch to rain mode and back again… now it wasn’t blinking anymore. The calculatjions on the fuel screen came back within 500 meters…
so all is back but… the orange spanner is still showing, it is not the spanner for the maintainance

Have you reset the date after disconnecting the battery? If not, doing that might make it go away.

Good call… My tiger showed the dreaded spanner when I took delivery. The date showed 2002… :joy:

Yes guys… it was the date. Orange spanner is gone now.
I did ajust the time, but never the date… didn’t even looked at it.

So 1 more ‘problem’ solved…

only the original question remains : how to reset the service indicator other than going to the dealer.

I have an ELM327 , I can get into the CPU to read codes, and reset these… when they are there but I can’t find the service interval…
I’ve tried 5 different programs on my phone… al have the normal basic functions. (ea Torque light and Carista…)
