What is the Pony Express?
The Pony Express is what we call the service offered by some members to deliver items that a seller is unable or unwilling to post. This can be a problem when the thing you need is perhaps hundreds of miles away. We have members all over the place and they can potentially relay an item across the country so it’s easier for you to collect. You may not get delivery to your door but you should be able to collect considerably closer to home.
Who are the couriers?
Various trusted members have said they’ll help out. Numbers will change as people sign-up or decide they don’t want to do it any more. You can see who’s involved and where the are on the Pony Express map.
How can I use the Pony Express?
The Pony Express is open to anyone who is signed up to the forum and has reached Member level. This is to avoid people joining just to take advantage of our volunteers without being part of the community.
If you want to use the service, have a look at the pinned About… post in the Pony Express sub-category. Essentially, you just need to create a new post in the Pony Express sub-category wait for people to respond. It may be that the courier network can’t help but you won’t know until you ask!
Can I volunteer to be a courier?
Yes, of course. You will need to be a regular member though. Get in touch with @Octoberon if you’re interested.
If you’re in an area that doesn’t have much coverage that would be most useful but it doesn’t matter if you’re close to an existing. The more people involved, the more smoothly this will work.
