1 April - Holden Announce New Motorcycles

In 2017, reports emerged that Holden, the Australian manufacturer of cars, renowned maker of the Ute, had plans to produce a range of motorcycles. A Holden insider said a top-secret project was ready to be revealed.

Suzuki had been asked to supply motors, including the 250cc twin from the GSX250R.

Holden wanted to repeat their formula that had worked with cars for decades and could even retool an old advertising song as “Football, meat pies, kangaroos and motorbikes”. It was understood they had registered the names Kanga, Goanna, Dingo and Drongo.

Government assistance was potentially going the be offered by giving Holden the next contract with Australia Post, so Holden could pursue a plan for a postie bike to be called the Modern Mail.

Sadly, Holden went out of business in 2020. It seems unlikely we will ever get to ride a Dingo.
