1 December - National Motorcycle Museum Reopens

After nearly 15 months, following a devastating fire the previous year, the National Motorcycle Museum completed a £20m rebuild, including the installation of a £1.2m sprinkler system, and opened its doors again in 2004.

On the night the fire broke out, around 300 bikes were rescued from the blaze. When the museum reopened there were around 650 machines on show and they were restoring others at the rate of about one per month.
