11 August - AMA Clears the Daytona 675 to Race

From the turn of the century, Triumph has evolved it’s mid-capacity sports bike offering from the launch of the TT 600 in 2000 through to the Daytona 600, 650 and arriving at the Daytona 675 in 2006, a bike that could take the fight to the best of the Japanese had to offer.

Privateers immediately picked up the new bikes and it made an outing at the Isle of Man TT after representaton from Triumph. On this day, the AMA cleared the way for the 675 to complete from 2007 in the Formula Xtreme, a support series for the American Superbike Championship, with the most famous event being the Daytona 200.

The evolution didn’t stop there, of course, with the 765 replacing the 675 and now being the sole engine used in the Moto2 world championship.
