12 July - Triumph Complete the TE-1 Project

In 2022, Triumph announced the official completion of their TE-1 electric development project with the release of the final prototype test results, paving the way for Triumph’s electric future.

The extensive live testing programme, which involved numerous assessments of the bike’s performance on the rolling road, as well as on track, provided direction into the final set-up and calibration of the TE-1 prototype demonstrator. Triumph said it delivered, and exceeded, their project targets.

The TE-1 prototype achieved 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds, has a 100-mile range, and a 20-minute charge time (to 80%). Range and ‘refuelling’ time isn’t comparable with fossil fuelled bikes, of course, but then the internal combustion engine does have over 100 years of development behind it. Let’s see where electric bikes are in 2122.

That’s actually a good looking bike…

Shame it wasn’t economical enough to make.

I agree. It is one of the only Ev bikes that actually looks like the real thing.

Electric cars were also around 100 years ago with Edison’s rechargable batterys. Never really came to anything once owners wanted to go further than their local job or shop.
Edison’s DC lost out to Tesla’s AC.
Now, if Tesla’s idea of transmitting electricity through the earth and atmosphere was to come to anything practical then maybe we’d be getting somewhere a bit further away than the end of the street.
Also where are these developers getting their designers from?
