Triumph hit a bump in the road in 2002 when a large part of the factory at Hinckley, England went.up in flames.
Fuel vapours from a petrol leak were ignited by a central heating pilot light causing an explosion and starting the blaze just before 9pm. The Leicestershire sky lit up as half the factory, including the stores and assembly areas, were razed to the ground as the roof collapsed.
30 vehicles and 100 firefighters got things under control by 2am with some remaining on the site all weekend, damping down hot spots.
Six months and £25 million later, everything the factory was back in business having taken the opportunity to rearrange production and upgrde equipment to the latest technology. Production started at around 25% of normal but quickly ramped up to full speed. Triumph were back in business. Again.
