19 June - Benka Pulko Sets Off Around The World

Setting off this day in 2002, Benka Pulko from Slovenia had only been riding for a few months when she took her BMW F650 on an epic trip around the world, and in to the Guiness Book of World Records for the longest solo motorcycle journey by a woman.

Benka left her home town of Ptuj and clocked up 111,856 miles (180,015 km), crossing 75 countries, before arriving back five-and-a-half years, exactly 2000 days, later. En route she also became the first motorcyclist to reach all seven continents, and the first woman to ride solo across Saudi Arabia.
