Pit Beirer was born in 1972 (happy birthday, Pit) in Radolfzell, (West) Germany
These days he’s known for running the KTM MotoGP team as Motorsports Director, but in the 90’s, ‘Pitbull’ was a formidable competitor in the FIM 250cc Motocross championship, finishing third in 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2002, and second in 1999.
His racing career had been spent on Kawasaki and Honda machinery until, in 2002, he signed for KTM. Tragedy struck in 2003 when Beirer crashed during the Bulgarian Grand Prix and suffered spinal injuries that left him paralysed and ended his riding career.
After rehabilitation, Beirer became the head of KTM’s off-road racing department. He is currently the Motorsports Director for KTM overseeing the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team in MotoGP as well as their off-road racing programs.
