It was a Saturday night in 1981. Legendary racer, Mike Hailwood, set off with his two children to collect fish and chips for tea. On the way home, a lorry turned through a barrier, illegally, and their car collided with it. Mike’s nine year old daughter was killed instantly. He and his son were taken to hospital Two days later, Hailwood died from severe internal injuries. His son survived with monor injuries.
