Cast your mind back to 1878 and a small village in Bohemia where little František Janeček was born. While some may know him for his Model 21 hand grenade, that’s not why we’re here.
In 1927, František started a motorcycle manufacturing company based on his own designs, employing a Wanderer engine.from Germany. and so was born in 1929 the JAWA marque. (Janeček. Wanderer - geddit?)
The company was later taken over by foreign investors.*
