24 March - Tony Rutter, another TT legend

If you’ve ever had an interest in the Isle of Man TT, and depending on how old you are, the name Tony Rutter or Michael Rutter will mean something to you.

Today it’s Tom Rutter (Michael’s father) we remember, who died five years ago, in 2020.

Tony was s street circuit specialist who won seven Isle of Man TT races in his career. The Junior TT in 1973 and 1974, the Formula 2 TT in 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1985, and the Senior 350 TT in 1982.

Rutter completed the first-ever 110 mph lap of the North West 200 circuit in 1973. He was inducted into the North West 200 Hall of Fame after winning the event nine times.
