25 June - The Perth BSA Club Suspends Activities

The BSA club, based in Perth, Australia, gathered in 1941 for their 100th meeting to discuss the fuel shortages brought on by World War II. They voted to suspend club activites until the supply situation improved or the war ended, whichever came first. The club would remain idle for nearly five years.

The club has been going since 1937 when 35 BSA riders met for the first time at Mortlock Bros Ltd., 914 Hay Street (the address was the Mortlock Brothers BSA/Harley-Davidson shop). It was decided that membership was open only to owners and riders of BSA motorcycles.

The club was very active in organising road races, rally’s and various social events, then came the war.

The first post-war meeting was held in February 1946 when the constitution was, begrudgingly, altered to open membership to riders of other makes of motorcycles.

The club is still going strong, but today they’re known as the BSA & Harley-Davidson Club.
