28 January - Titan Motorcycles and the Indy 500

Back in 2000, when everything still had that fresh millenium smell, the Titan Motorcycle Company, the first volume producer of custom motorcycles, partnered with the Indy Racing League and announced they would build one hundred, limited edition “Indy 500” Y2K Gecko Rubbermount motorcycles.

Founded in 1995 to follow the fine US tradition for making custom motorcycles, they followed another fine US tradition in 2001, and went bankrupt.

Wouldn’t go for the above wheel design myself, but I quite like it otherwise (I bet it isn’t overly comfortable though)

Those bikes look all the same to me, same overheating engine, same symbolic seat, same stupid frame geometry. They only concentrate on unnecessary details.
And they all try to sell that bikes for crazy money.
Honestly, if I had to choose between that and a basic Royal Enfield, I’d go for the one that can properly ride.

But I know which I’d rather have decorating my living room.

Generally known for crappy builds especially later ones with Ultima engines that have a rep for tearing themselves apart. Early owners like them as the quality and engines were better.
Big bear, OCC, boss hog stuff is all miles too blingy with shit paintjob designs IMO. They used to show up at bike shows and take trophys away from proper builders.
If you can find a really cheap early model with an S&S plant then have it for the engine and scrap the rest.
