In 2015, fifteen years after the shocking news that Joey Dunlop had died during a road race in Estonia, the readers of the Belfast Telegraph newspaper showed they hadn’t forgotten their hero and voted him Northern Irelands Greatest Sports Star Ever, beating both Roty McIlroy and the legendary George Best to the prize.
In his career Joey won the Ulster Grand Prix 24 times, the North West 200 13 times and the Isle of Man TT 26 times, including five consecutive TT Formula One world titles.
