They thought it was all over. John Bloor thought differently. Bloor beat Harley-Davidson and Cagive to win the brand name at auction and Triumph Motorcycles Limited was incorporated in the UK at Companies House in 1983. The marque that had been producing motorycles for over 80 years got a new lease of life.
But the work was only just beginning. Triumph needed to rebuild and modernise. Continuity of the brand was left in the hands of Les Harris who produced Bonnevilles under licence until 1988
While things appeared quiet after the Harris Bonnevilles stopped production, work was going on behind closed doors to develop new prototyes, and a factory was built at Hinckley in Leicestershire, UK.
The first new model from the revitalised Triumph, the 1200cc Trophy, rolled out the doors in 1991. Triumph were back.
