6 July - Bert Le Vack Breaks the Land Speed Record

In 1924, Herbert ‘Bert’ le Vack broke the land speed record at Arpajon, France, squeezing 118.99 mph (191.50 km/h) from his Brough Superior with an 867cc JAP engine.

Bert was a top rider in the 1920’s, winning several major motorcycle races including the Welsh TT, Lightweight Isle of Man Tourist Trophy Race and the Brooklands 500-mile race. Le Vack set several world speed records during this time.

As part of Brough’s sporting success history, they produced a motorcycle in his honour in 2021. Only none were produced - one for each of the speed records he broke.
