A very wet Coniston

Needed to pick something up from Screwfix in Ulverston, about six miles away, so obviously I did a loop around Coniston. Was dry when I left home but looked really dark up towards the Lakes.
Down through Askam and Kirkby, through the major roadworks at Grizebeck and over to Lowick.
By now it was raining heavily with running water across the roads.
Onwards through Torver to Coniston where there were a few full road width puddles. Still lovely views though.

Return down the East side of the lake and the road was flooded in many places with rubble being washed off the hillside in places. Bit sketchy!
If you squint you may be able to make out the Gondola steaming down the water :face_with_monocle:

Did the Screwfix collection, home for lunch, washed the Scrambler now waiting to collect grandson from school.
Not a bad day

It is definitely getting to that time of year where if you do venture out on the bike you are likely to catch a shower or even a heavy downpour lol

We are up in Ullswater on Thursday. We were supposed to be coming up in the car but have now decided to use the 4x4 as it looks proper shite for the next few days…
Bike is back of the queue now ……
But we’ve had a great summer so no point in moaning…!

A long way for a day trip!
You’re not camping are you? :scream:

No. Hotel thankfully.
A few friends had planned a car road trip but the cars can stay in the garage … we had planned to do a few routes around the lakes but it’s gonna be a wet one, so we will make it up as we go along…!

Did the Honister pass in the car yesterday… it was a job to tell the road from the river at times…

Whaaaaat….dont tell me the others are all freeloading on the back of that one lake…
Prey tell which one that is…?

I’ve just looked out of the window and it’s still raining..!

And in other Lake District news….

Today the steam ferry was cancelled on Ullswater. Apparently there was too much water in the lake.

I kid you not.
