Tis indeed, a 224 in koa, apparently the bass mellows over time with koa. Its nice, not very loud mind, I used to have a GSmini and I swear it was louder than this which seems odd. Sweet tone though
I like the mid high crispness of koa instruments. And it’s gorgeous.
But let’s be honest, I’m not an acoustic guitar guy, over my + 25 guitars only 5 or 6 are acoustics.
Nor me, around 15 guitars with just one acoustic. Nice to have though
Bloody excessive musicians it’s not motorbikes you know… you can only play one at a time!
Ive been buying/selling/collecting for 30 years, so a new acquisition every 2 years average seems ok I suppose. Made a few quid on them too, guitars have been a fairly good investment, especially the last 10 years. Not giged for 20 though and likely never will with my hearing situation. At least you boys have a valid reason for many guitars were not counting amps though are we
Not got a supersonic 22 or an Artisan 15 kicking about with nothing to do have you?
You know I do happen to have a Supersonic 22, combo, black. Had an artisan 30 which I regret selling. If you are looking at something like the artisan I would consider some of the Marshall studio amps, they are very good! I picked up a SV20 head for half the price of an artisan and I would say very similar vibe.
Orange all the way for me (and an old Carvin X60A). But the supersonic 22 is a really good one.
Never tried the Blackstar apart IDCORE series.
The first Blackstar I tried was an Artisan 30… I fell in love, but couldn’t afford it and the guitar I was after (I chose the guitar). Damn shame. I’ve had a variety of Blackstars since then, chasing the tone in my head but none hit the mark… I wondered if the 15 might (with more useful power scaling)
I really fancy the 22 though, especially for gigging
Edit note - I currently use Boss Katana (biker reference) as its a versatile beast, especially if you put some effort into setting up… but I miss my tubes
I had one and was not my bone China at all… I’d love to love Orange, but they always sound too dark when I play them somehow
It’s all about taste.
I don’t like bright amps, but choose amp for the shimmery cleans (distortion is barely an issue). Oranges have this unique mid scope punch I love.
I run the head into a Marshall 1960 cab loaded with modern Eminence speakers.
One of my son’s guitar player own a Blackstar HT50, and it sounds very well.
Next amp I’m interested in are Victory amps a Duchess, or a Kraken.
Big orange fan, had quite a few.
AD30
OR50
Rocker 30
Tiny Terror combo
Tiny Terror head hard wired
Rockerverb 50 mk2
Still have the TT hard wired and the Rockerverb, some can be muddy but they brighten up when you get the volume cranked or use an attenuator, especially the rockerverb.
I’m always on the lookout for a Retro 50 but never crossed my path yet.
Have to mention the Marshall SV20 again, that amp really impresses me!
Weird, but the only Marshall I’ve had was the DSL40r, first valve amp I owned and should probably have kept but I was always chasing “gear” rather than settling and concentrating on playing. I’ll maybe review the SV info again.
Orange - I’ve owned 2 Dual terrors in my time and liked the sound playing on my own, but I was never quite happy how they sat in the band (plus there was no effects loop ) Clean or dirty, they were just too dark with my guitar somehow… I couldn’t settle on them.
I still would like to get my hands on a 22 Supersonic though
I feel we may have deviated a little from the op… soz!
Sensible souls do not read this… I had in the beginning of the 90’s a JCM800 combo, bought for cheap at a friend… and sold it for cheap as I struggled to full my plate.
I’m glad I woke this topic up with a photo of my guitars!
A friend has a lot more in his collection (he has admitted to 9 or 10, but I suspect it’s more, with some ‘hidden’ from his better half!), and yet when we meet at the rehearsal rooms I ALWAYS bring my red 335 copy and he ALWAYS brings his black Fender Telecaster…
I suppose we all have our favourites!!
Every mood link to a guitar.
They are all my favorite at a certain moment.
Currently in love with an Ibanez RG.
Buy all your guitars in the same colour, then the wife will never notice a new one follow me for more tips
It’s the same with music… I suppose I have a few hundred albums, between vinyl, CD and MP3’s, but listen to the same, probably 20 or 30, records all the time.
I should really sell some of them, but that’s just not a decision I can make yet!!
I must admit, I often listen to Apple Music for kicking about the house (not actually sitting to listen with a brewski) because you can select a song and tell it to make a playlist somehow based on that on track… that has introduced me to some wonderful music that I’d never have tapped into (even from artists I know) One word of warning though… try to ensure there is NO Christmas connection, otherwise you are guaranteed some shoite in there!
