Aix-les-Bains to Col du Coq Round Trip

Last vacation week end for my wife, so we’ve put the Honda wheels on “le massif de la Chatreuse”. Then a BBQ with friends and back home. Note the time maps plan to do the 177 km..
That can give you an idea of the roads we’ve taken. Hairpins, very vertical roads.
The climax was downhill from “le Col du Coq”. A very narrow road, 2 cars can’t cross, in the middle of the forest, very bad road, a lot of gravels, single lane tunnels (made for donkeys & horses at the time), where I had to horn before entering to clear the way.
The kind of road that is ok for a DT125, not really for a 250 kg motorcycle with 2 people on it. But we did it. I won’t recommend the col du Coq. It’s nice, but not really safe to ride.

I followed some of the D30E, vicariously sharing some of your journey on Google maps, it makes it feel very familiar … I have passed through that region a bit but not on that Col. I notice that your bike recommendations have been taken up though!!!

the way down to St Pierre de Chartreuse looks like that..

And there the tarmac is ok, on some portions we were shaken as we were in a rollercoaster.
