When I bought some bike jeans for the summer I decided to look for a lighter boot than my clunky (and now dead) Sidis. After some stomping up and down the floor at SPORTSBIKESHOP in Leeds I went for these Alpinestars Faster-3 Rideknit Shoes.
I was a bit dubious about the cut-away at the back at first but in practise it makes them comfortable to walk in and you don’t notice it after a short time. You do need to make sure the laces are adjusted properly so the boot is snug all the way down.
