Since years I regularly face left hand tendinitis, maybe also the carpal tunnel starts to enter the painful dance.
Everytime I ride for a day, it’s getting difficult. My wife would also like to travel on the bike again. So.. I’m starting to look at those DCT bikes. Not many choice, the only suitable bike seems to be the Honda NT 1100. The process to let down my ST 1050 will be long, So I need to think about every solution.
Perhaps the Yamaha Y-AMT is an option? It’d be hard to part with your beloved ST 1050 though…
I don’t know if they make one for your specific bike, but there will be a way to retro fit!
didn’t knew about that Y-AMT. I had a look at the Tracer. So far I looked toward Honda because they have the DCT technology for 15 years.
I’ll check all options. The last thing I’ll try on the ST will be to install a longer clutch arm on the pivot to reduce the force needed (and unfortunately the clutch course too).
Interesting technology. Unfortunately not for me. It only works as you stop, not on gear change.
I’ve also looked at the aftermarket shifters (Healtech). On old machines like mine, it works only to gear up. Down shifting would need a bleeper, and on my ST it’s still a cable throttle, so not sure it will work.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is no fun, I 've had both my wrists done.
There’s also the DCT Gold Wing which could be a bargain used. B*W are also bringing out their own version (ASA) which is currently only available on the 1300 GS & GSA but now doubt it’ll end up in the new 1300 RT, RS and R when they come out but it seems to be getting mixed reviews at the mo from the Beta testers where as the Honda system has been out for some time now so any early adopter software glitches have likely been solved by now
Rendez-vous on the 27th of May to try a NT1100.
Following my email, the Honda dealer called me back, quick chat about the bikes. He asked me about my current motorcycle, and as I mentioned the ST1050 the guy told me he had 3 of them and love that particular model
