Not quite sure whether to think “Poor man, he’s been in a bad place mentally” or “That’s convenient, isn’t it?” I’ll reserve judgement.

I can only imagine the mental health issue is very real and very acute.
While I can sympathise, but not completely. The man has obviously been doing questionable things legal or not. A public figure in his position should have more sense than chasing teenagers.
He (allegedly…) was well enough to call and to ask “what the hell have you done…”
As for the family? Not going to be easy for them, even though no laws have been broken.
Most of you probably didn’t see the programme as it was on S4C Welsh language channel a few years ago, but he’s struggled with his mental health for years and has been diagnosed with clinical depression for most of his adult life and has spoken about it at length on Welsh TV.
