Be Careful Out There

I went out on the tiger with my mate yesterday. The roads in the main were really dry with occasional damp patches out of the sun. That is until I encountered a farmers mud deposit on a straight bit of the A41. The mud was really wet and even though I seen it and backed off my speed the tiger took on a mind of its own .
It shows that even with many years experience riding we can still be caught out with the unexpected change in road conditions. I was lucky, so just be careful out there people.

We went to Demon Tweeks yesterday in the car and was glad we were not on the bike because of the mud. It didn’t seem to affect a couple of twonks on their bikes over taking on blind bends.

FOR SALE: One pair of brown trousers, slightly used.

It’s a real hazard this time of year. That looked like a real heart stopping moment!

Bloody hell. Well done controlling the bike.

Good save my man, your experience was to stay cool and not fight it, which probably won the day!:+1::+1::+1:

Chuffin eck Steve, good save. That needs reporting, send them the footage if they think it’s not dangerous!

Must admit it did cross my mind. But not sure who to send it too?

Local council or National Highways…

Negligent farmer should have at least put out a “Mud on Road” sign (and would likely be liable for damages).

Thanks for that, I will check that out.

The A41 would probably be looked after by the county council, so they’d be your 1st port of call. Did you have full-on road tyres or some 80/20s on it

The tyres are Metzeler Tourance, which are supplied from the factory. The tyres are designed for street-oriented Enduro motorcycles,
Metzeler say the knobbly tyre stands out for its exceptional combination of mileage, durability, and versatile performance.

I guess you could say that the tyres helped me keep the bike upright, even though it did loose traction. I’m not sure if the traction control kicked in as I did not feel it, only the bike trying to throw me off.

They certainly wouldn’t have done any harm in those conditions. The building sites near us have to regularly sweep the mud off the road, so that farmer needs holding to account for his negligence IMO

I would have hoped that the traction control would be working overtime in those circumstances, otherwise what’s the point of all these fancy electronics? Hopefully it was doing its thing in the background.

21 seconds in you see a JCB in the layby, equipped with a brush and shovel. He had been sweeping along the layby section of road looks like.

TC would have been doing nothing Steve since you weren’t on the throttle, Close one! proper arse tightener, glad you saved it mate :+1:t3:

Main A roads and arterial routes are the responsibility of National Highways, minor routes etc are local councils

Yes. I tried reporting the incident to Shropshire Council and they bounced me to National Highways, who promptly bounced me back to Shropshire Council.

Not sure who is responsible at the moment?

Quick update following a further note to Shropshire council to advise the highways agency bounced me back to them.
They have now raised an investigation and will report back with regular updates.
Watch this space.
