I haven’t been to a speedway meet since I were nowt but a nipper. Good fun tonight watching the Belle Vue Colts beat the Sheffield Cubs.
Pie and chips and the sweet smell of two-stroke. Grand.

Shame it’s dying here. The SGP is still looking good, well worth going to Cardiff to see the British round.
Ah yes, every Friday night after work, zoom up on the bike to watch the Hammers. A cup of bovril and plenty of fivers…then a chat with the riders in the bar after.

It was the Barrow Happy Faces,then Barrow Bombers for me. My parents and I, sometimes a mate or two, would watch the racing then go to my Aunt and Uncles house for hot dogs Great times
Got to see Ivan Mauger and Barry Briggs a few times.
I have mentioned it before but Alan Wilkinson, who was captain of Belle Vue before being paralysed, was my Dad’s apprentice. Nice guy.
