Off to Oulton Park for this weekend. Looks like a wet day tomorrow but a friend has bagged us VIP tickets for Sunday so it’s hospitality all the way.

Given the back end of Amy is still damp and blowing a hooley (ooer) where we live, we haven’t rushed to the circuit today. Shame - I’d like to have ridden down on the 765. I hear it’s raining there but riders are out.
Out on the circuit this morning for a lap on the back of a BMW M1000R. What a hoot - those guys are so fast and brake so late, and that’s just an exhibition lap.
The other bike was an R1, laps courtesy of Niall McKenzie.

Indeed. Even more fun with the grid walk, when it eventually came. Peter Hickmans’s engine exploded so spectacularly it left a trail of oil 120m along the track. Red flagged. Took well over an hour to clear. They have to send out for some additional chemicals to shift it.
Got asked to present Bradley Ray with the watch he gets for securing pole position. A brief look of confusion crossed his face that I put down to him not knowing who the hell I am. Afterwards it occurred to me I was wearing a Peter Hickman jacket.

No worries, it was good fun last year. I’m a bit disappointed that I missed this year. It was my bad as I had so much going on with grand kids this year.
We’re planning to go to more BSB races in 2026 and Oulton is likely to be one of our destinations so I’ll be sure to let you know.
