Going out this morning, I saw that not only were the snowdops out, but the daffodils were poking their heads up through the grass as well. Now that really is a cheering sign.
Saw my first snowdrops last Friday while cycling on a local path. Always a welcome sign!
The daffs and bluebells in my garden are making an appearance
I will just be glad when these storms sod off.
The daffs have been trying to make an appearance for a little while here, I noticed some last week . Just an end to the rain and winds would be an excellent start
.
It’s quite mild here today. Might even dry up later, according to the forecast. I’m working but Sunday looking promising for the first proper ride of the year, Roll on summer!
I have my rest days from work Saturday - Tuesday this week so a rare weekend off, plus the promise of better weather is lifting my spirits . Trying not to get too excited though, just in case
.
There’s a SuperSport and a Sprint in the garage that haven’t been out for a run yet. Finger’s crossed!
Had my first ride out the other day. Not on my bike but on a bmw s1000rr demonstrator for a couple of hours. Its amazing how well it stuck to the roads for this time of year.
I think I picked one of the better days. It made me realise a couple of things.
I miss the protection that a fairing affords and those heated grips are simply amazing. Also cruise control is actually really good having never been on a bike which have either of these functions.
Then back to reality that the base model of this bike is over £17k and its january where u wish u had a ton of money. Nay mind it made me smile for every minute being back out and it will soon be warmer again.
Daffodils now starting to flower, hooray.
There was a highish tide here this morning, with the sea flooding in over the merse. This brought out large numbers of geese and curlews, enjoying the shallow water.
Not sure whether its global warming or not bit this past couple pf weeks I have seen countless badgers dead near the roadside, so whilst the sign of spring is great it doesn’t appear so for the badger
I’m afraid dead badgers are quite a common sight on the roads here all year round. (It used to be rabbits years ago, but they are much scarcer now.) I always drive particularly carefully at night, looking out for animals (badgers, hares, foxes and deer, but some people drive fast all the time and just don’t care what they kill. We saw a live badger on our track a couple of nights ago, which was quite exciting as live ones are not often seen.
I saw a badger driving home to the inlaw’s house in The Lakes one night - very high on the legs, very odd. Great to see though.
That’s unusual, most badgers have fairly short legs.
Yes they do - this one just looked very strange, with its long legs trotting across the lane. A bit eerie too, in the dark.
We also have a lot of Muntjacs on the roads near us.
One evening last month I was driving along slowly as usual on that stretch there was a baby and it’s parents near the road side. I thought to myself hope they dont wonder onto the road.
20 mins later I returned along the same stretch and at the same spot an adult muntjac had been run over.
They always appear in the colder weather I wonder if they are drawn out by people dropping food/rubbish out of windows or they just like to hang around the roadside.
Not really spring related sorry
