Cardio Noise Cancelling Helmet

I suppose this is a logical extension from the earbuds and headphones that are fairly ubiquitous now. I wonder how well it’ll work without pressing firmly against (or into) your ear.

Very interesting article.

The fact that it’s ‘active noise cancelling’ should mean that it won’t need to press very firmly against the ears. ANC ‘headphones’ sit around the ear and use ‘reverse sound wave’ technology to minimise the noise. I expect that the fact that most (modern) helmets - especially full face - use thick side padding for safety, comfort and some, minimal sound suppression means that part of the ANC feature is, to some extent, already addressed.

If this technology can be provided at a reasonable cost it could, potentially, be a game-changer for long distance/term use of a motorcycle helmet and especially if the technology is dynamic and flexible enough to use in modular/flip front helmets. That said, judging from the article, there’s going to be a mighty cost to consider for the benefit. I’ll watch with interest.

This is why I was thinking about with the design. They do say the speakers are bigger so maybe that compensates, and perhaps the fit of a helmet is tight enough to make it work. They’ve obviously tested it, the question isn’t whether it will work but how well for the money.

About the same as my SHOEI Neotec 3 with additional built in Sena comms.

The tech is all well and good. But would I swop my Arai RX7 for this unknown helmet? Absolutely not, I will stick with my current Cardo comms.

I’m also on the RX-7 as it fits nicely. That’s always going to be the first consideration.
