I am fortunate to live in the Castle Douglas area. You chose some nice roads for your tour. The official SW300 misses a lot of good ones and includes some uninspiring ones. I hope it never catches on like the NW500: I donā€™t want my local roads clogged up with campervans!
(Actually I havenā€™t seen any sign of it catching on so far.)

I noticed quite a few caravans and campervans wild camping by the river in the Mennock Pass - turns out they would be panning for gold! Gold from this location was used to make the Scottish Crown Jewels, and traces can still be found thereā€¦ take a sieve and some wellies!
