This was in the news today. Pretty horrifying.
It’s a pity that you don’t get to know what happened in cases like this, so that lessons can be learned. Obviously not possible as there will be months of legal processes to establish the facts.

The A53 just outside Buxton has some nice bends. It sounds like someone got it horribly wrong this time.
There’s a mistake in the article. The place is Tomthorn (Not Tom Thorne) and it’s the A6 that runs between Buxton and Dove Holes. It’s a straight road, ripe for overtaking and also for misjudgments.
I’ve ridden a fair bit in the Peaks, and frankly the biggest surprise to me is the fact that there aren’t more deaths. The roads lend themselves to catastrophe, many riders behave like complete knobs and it’s not uncommon to see car drivers get triggered by bikers’ behaviour, be it filtering or apparently being unaware there’s someone other than them on the road. That’s quite a brew
There are certainly a lot of signs like this around here.
Obviously not knowing all the facts it is difficult to know what has happened to see three and then two bikers killed in separate crashes.
It does seem strange to me that three are killed in one crash, with two in the other one. We’re they all riding too close together ?
Chasing each other along the road, going too quickly and ending up on the wrong side with something coming the other way would be my guess.
We see it almost every time we go out. Be safe everyone.
I feel sorry for the emergency services who have to clear the mess up after, and of course the families of all involved as things will never be the same for them ever again.
