Not sure if this is how all dealers are going but Fowlers Bristol parts counter is now closed. It is now a ‘Click & Collect’ system. They have a dedicated phone system for parts enquirys.
It’ll be interesting to see if this effects bike sales, as I always like to waste time looking at the bikes while pretending to have come into bike shops to enquire about some spares. But maybe it’s to get rid of time wasters like me!
Fowlers Parts have always done things a bit different. You would go to the counter to request and pay for parts and then wait in the Honda showroom or the car park untill someone brought the parts to you. There was never any sense of urgency. All very strange.
They used to have the spares dept. over the road in one of the warehouse units opposite. They were super slow then and had issues knowing what you wanted. I once had to go into the racks upstairs to find the bit myself, but at least you could talk to them.
Online from afar sales to the world. I don’t go there any more for anything other than to look at the bikes.
Place as gone down hill since Bob Hart left.
I had some parts on order and requested delivery. They were on back order. In the meantime I had need for some parts for one of my other bikes. Popped into Fowler as they showed stock. As I pulled into there carpark I got an email saying the other stuff was now in stock and I would be updated when posted.
Thought great I’ll pick them up.
No. You ordered and requested delivery. Yes I did but I’m here now so can’t I take them. No computer shows no stock. But you do have stock there mine.
I’ll get the manager.
Had to cancel the order I did online, online in there shop. Them wait for the computer to show stock. Then buy over the counter and wait for my card to be refunded.
It’s gone completely moron. Computer says no.
Many many years ago. Before computers. My dad rang Fowlers and the confirmed they had a piston and rings in stock for my Yamaha mx100.
Drove over from south Wales to be told sorry our mistake we haven’t got one. Bob wheeled a brand new bike out of the showroom into the workshop. They stripped the top end and took the piston and rings out of a brand new bike to keep my racing
It was humans say YES
