Heading for Spain?

@BrownMouse be warned! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Easy. Just donā€™t go thereā€¦same as Wales :smile: theyā€™ll be measuring the size of numberplates next

But they do have some rather nice roads (and mostly no potholes). I suppose I could make sure I donā€™t speedā€¦
Probably not going to happen. :thinking:

Thatā€™s timely, just spent the morning looking for and booking accommodation in Spain for nights 4+5

Absolutely. Just watch yourself and enjoy them. I loved riding in Spainā€¦

The ones Iā€™ve been looking at in the northern mountains look as rough as those at home. :frowning:

Iā€™m also getting deja vu from my first Alps trip last year, because according to Google a pass I had planned for the first day is closed until the week after Iā€™m due to be there. It didnā€™t occur to me that snow would be a problem. Hopefully the snow this year isnā€™t too bad and itā€™ll be openā€¦

Some of the passes are pretty high up and could well be closed early in the season. Just check the passes websites to make sure theyā€™re open.

Sorry, I donā€™t recall the details of your plans this year, when and where this time?
Iā€™ve got the first two weeks of June booked this year staying in the Picos and North Portugal this time, about 10yrs now since my last visit there. But travelled along the Pyrenees in '23, stayed on the Spanish side and donā€™t recall any bad road surfaces.

Iā€™m landing mid May and there for 2 weeks.

Iā€™m going with a couple of friends and we have a holiday let in the Picos booked for the start and end of the trip. The other guys have ideas of winging it and going where the weatherā€™s best in Spain and Portugal and doing some camping if weather is OK. Iā€™m not taking a tent so decided to book some accommodation to the west of the Picos to cover a weekend in case suitable accommodation gets hard to find. That will still leave 6 days open.

We found some pretty rough ones in the mountains, however the majority were very good and offered mile upon mile of tight hairpins just perfect for the Street Triple and the scenery more than made up for most of the dodgier roads.

Rough roads in Spain and Portugal seem somehow better than rough roads in the UK :laughing:.

Looks like weā€™ll be ā€œpassing ships in the nightā€ then. :smile: :+1:

Yes Wim the riding in Spain is excellent. I think we might have had a problem with the new speeding measures if they had been implemented when we were last therešŸ˜‚

I think youā€™re not wrong there, Steveā€¦ :rofl:
