Hoods & Stitches - upholstery

Hoods & Stitches is an upholsterer who has just started to offer work on motorcycle seats. Neil is based in Newport, Wales but can do work by post.

I decided to have an extra layer of padding added to my Striple seat as this year I have done lots of 250+ miles days and although the riding position is very comfortable for me on the bike, it could get a bit sore on the posterior after a while.

I went to see Neil, discussed what I wanted and he had it done within a day - I had originally liked a stitched design but he said if I rode a lot in the rain that it wouldn’t be ideal so I went for non - stitched vinyl as I seem to have ridden in the rain more often than the dry this year!!

He also offers a discount if you are a serving member of the armed forces or a veteran.

I have ridden about 2500 miles since the seat was done (2300 of those on our recent trip to Jerez) in all weathers and I am happy to say that Neil has done a cracking job. He’s done some really lovely work for others too - posted on his Facebook page. [Redirecting...]

That looks good and it’s good to hear that it’s more comfortable. I do wonder why motorcycle manufacturers can’t fit comfortable seats in the first place - particularly on adventure or touring bikes. They always have a “comfort” seat option for more money and choose not to fit it, so I assume making an uncomfortable seat standard is deliberate.

That’s been my assumption for a while too!

That looks amazing :slightly_smiling_face:
